Accidental Storytelling: A Mindful Approach

Accidental storytelling is a parenting tool that helps parents deal effectively with the challenges of common early childhood behaviours. It combines parents intuition, personal values and individual experience to create a never before heard of story told by parents to their children.

In our workshops you will learn how to create stories on the spot and for the moment in order to help children tackle their immediate "crises" and improve their behaviour instantly and consistently.

And...answer some of the most perplexing questions parents struggle with everyday including:

Why does my 18 month old throw tantrums when I get her dressed?
Why does my 2.5 year old want to wear the same shirt everyday?
What do I have to do to get my 3 year old to poo in the toilet?
When will my 5 year old stop crying at the slightest change in routine?

By creating stories based on the challenges children face in the moment, parents are better able not only to avert confrontations but reflect back on the underlying issues and help children connect with their emotions.

Accidental storytelling is simple, intuitive, readily mastered and put to practice by any parent. When applied over a short period of time it could help parents and children:

Develop a better awareness of themselves
Create positive affects in their growing character
Slow down the moment for each other
Explore their unique voices
Build a tradition of storytelling within the family
Create a life-long storyteller and reader in your child

Using one of the six accidental storytelling styles parents can explore their children's wants and needs more closely thereby uncovering more of the interests and unique qualities particular to each child. This allows parents to address children's specific challenges and ultimately develop a closer relationship with them.
